Lamp 60
A light made from recycled components
Lamp 60 was made using recycled steel and off the shelf components. It is easy to assemble and can be packed almost flat. Lamp 60 looks at eco-friendly design as being efficiency of form and components as well as energy used in manufacture and shipping. A simple light that to remind us that beauty need not be found in busy and complex designs.
The concept's philosophy is to reduce the energy and processes which go into modern designs. Being environmentally friendly does not just mean using recycled materials it also means instead of moulding metal into shapes, either thought hot or cold forming, the shape is designed to be manually bent into shape. Fitting use loose tolerance methods which still result in a secure hold.
Often eco-design is flawed because of western reductionist thinking. The lamp takes into consideration all inputs from cradle to grave. The minimal form is a reminder of the products processes, the simplicity echoing the simplicity of its production.
